Description
- The slender legs flare in both directions adding strength and style to the bench.
- We hand turned all the legs and stretchers on the wood lathe. To give the bench a slim, elegant appearance, we tapered all the legs and stretchers at each end. But for added strength and durability, each also has a thick bulb in the center.
- Tim was excited to turn the 60″ center stretcher on a 1920s Fay and Egan 8′ Pattern Maker’s lathe. Tim even made a cameo appearance in TractorMan44’s YouTube video about the lathe.
- Both the original antique table and the new Spindle Bench Seat are built from birch. Birch is a good hardwood for furniture. It is durable, has a light grain and accepts stain well.
- We custom stained (computer matched) the bench to match the client’s Grandmother’s antique dining room table. It is then sprayed with a durable clear lacquer topcoat. The design and color of the new bench match the original dining set Perfectly! You would never know it was not part of the original set.
Of course, the chickens (Omlet) had to do a final inspection! She said “This one is ready for pick-up!”
