We had the pleasure of restoring this circa 1900 folding Antique tea cart / Bar cart / hotel serving trolley.
This restoration involved:
- making period correct trim to go around each tray
- repaired and replaced damaged burl oak veneer on each shelf
- spraying each tray with a protective coat of lacquer
- replaced the front casters
- installed new rubber on the rear baby buggy style spoked wheels
- the entire metal (iron) frame received a de-rusting and new paint scheme, gold, to compliment the owner’s home
- smooth rolling and leveling of the two wheel sizes
- verifying easy collapsing and expanding of the metal frame
To verify period correct details, we researched the history of the cart. For instance, we discovered this was a collapsible cart or trolley used by a hotel or a wealthy family in the 1900’s.
