During the Covid pandemic (2020), Tim was laid off from his company. This opportunity was a gift. We have been members of local artisan and trade groups. Consequently, this allowed us to learn from the local masters and fine tune our craft. Tim has been a St Louis Custom Furniture Builder for over 20 years. With Tim’s woodworking skills and craftsmanship and Shelly’s technical abilities and business acumen, certainly there was never a better time to open Urban Mill Woodworks.

 

Urban Mill Woodworks is a labor of love. For 20 years, Tim has been acquiring and restoring Industrial Woodworking machinery. Tim favors the reliability and accuracy of the classic equipment. For instance, his 1903 Silver Band saw to his 1942 Oliver Planer. The shop also contains modern equipment when newer technology is preferred.

 

Yet, even with all the machinery, the shop would not be complete without a thorough array of hand tools. You can’t beat the reliability and details created by hand tools. Our shop contains the same restored tools the finest craftsmen have been using for decades.
