Jointer Base Table
Restored and Repurposed!
JK purchased a former corner grocery store in the historic Tower Grove area of St Louis. She is converting it into her home. In the cellar, she found a 1876 J.A Fay jointer base. Restoring the base involved de-rusting and stripping off the old paint. Painting the entire machine and then detailing the raised letters with a contrasting color.
Local is important to JK, so we selected a locally harvested (St Louis) quarter sawn sycamore tree. The book matched grain formed a heart on one end.
We had the privilege of being a part of this gorgeous project! Local St Louis Proud!

Fireplace Surround
Our clients built a new custom home last year. So many decision are involved in new construction and the price of upgrades through the builder can be shocking. They decided to wait until they moved into the home before making improvement decision. This gave them flexibility on who could perform the work, the timing and the details. They decided the home needed three modifications.

Fireplace Built in Cabinets
M&B had a brand new fireplace installed in their new home leaving two awkward sized spaces on either side. They reached out to Urban Mill Woodworks for their new 54 inch wide, 9 foot tall cabinet and shelving units. The units were constructed in the shop and then later installed and fitted perfectly in their home. The shelves in both the cabinets and the upper units are fully adjustable. The durable, white lacquer finish really brightens up the space.

Trestle Dining Table
No details were skipped on this solid Oak Trestle Dining Table and matching bench.
The table begins with a graduated plank base supporting the hour-glass trestle. Then draw your eyes to the dual stretchers and a wedge tenon for both style and strength.
The bench compliments the table’s trestle style with a graduated base, and hour-glass trestle and a single stretcher.
Both the table and bench are constructed of solid Red Oak. Next, they were custom stained to match the existing chairs.
At 40″ wide X 86″ long, it can seat 8 people comfortably but could do 10 in a pinch.

Entryway Bench
Our Entryway bench with storage is small, yet functional.
L wanted a bench near the front door for the family to put on and take off their shoes.
The top includes a small lip around three sides preventing a cushion from slipping off.
The lower is partitioned into three equal sections. Each section is the perfect size for a storage bin to stash your stuff.
The bench is made of sturdy oak. Oak is one of the original hardwoods used for furniture. It will be able to withstand daily use.
The bench was custom stained to match the client’s existing furniture. It was then sprayed with a durable clear lacquer topcoat.

The table is a 7 foot long, 30 inches tall, and approximately 15 inches wide, live edge Walnut slab with an iron leg base. The locally harvested Missouri native walnut slab is finished with a clear satin lacquer to showcase the beauty of the contrasting heart and sap woods.

We had the honor of restoring this family heirloom Hoosier cabinet (kitchen hutch) back to its original glory. We LOVE the way it turned out.
We researched the history of the Hoosier cabinet to verify period correct details. For instance, we discovered Hoosier cabinets provided a workstation and kitchen cabinets before built-in cabinets became a standard for kitchens. I also loved this book, Period Kitchens: A Practical Guide to Period Style Decorating. There are many styles for this kitchen hutch. It is also fun to see them all.

Spindle Bench Seat
Our Spindle Bench Seat is elegant, functional and was exciting to build. H wanted a bench to compliment her Grandmother’s antique dining room table.
The slender legs flare in both directions adding strength and style to the bench.
All the legs and stretchers are hand turned. All legs and stretchers taper at each end to give it a slim, elegant appearance. For added strength and durability, each also has a thick bulb in the center.
Tim was excited to turn the 60″ center stretcher on a 1920s Fay and Egan 8′ Pattern Maker’s lathe. Tim even made a cameo appearance in TractorMan44’s YouTube video about the lathe.
Like the table, the bench was built from birch. Birch is a good hardwood for furniture. It is durable, has a light grain and accepts stain well.
The bench is custom stained (computer matched) to match the client’s Grandmother’s antique dining room table. It is then sprayed with a durable clear lacquer topcoat.

The table and benches are constructed completely of solid cypress. It is made to withstand the elements but is pretty enough to be used inside. Cypress is popular for exterior applications where longevity and beauty are important. Cypress’s natural oils attribute to it’s water, rot and insect resistance. Cypress takes an outdoor stain well. This can be beneficial when matching the color to your existing outdoor decor or furnishings.
We used a massive X trestle style base for the table supports. The base is bolted to the top for rigidity. This highly supportive, low tip design is equally aesthetic. The two matching benches use the classic U base supports.

Hickory Console Table
Our hickory console table is actually a redo of an existing console table. M&M like the design and style of their console table, but it was constructed of “manufactured” wood which isn’t as durable as solid wood. The manufactured wood quickly deteriorated, but the frame remained sturdy and strong.
M&M had us replace the manufactured wood with solid hickory planks. To further increase the durability of the hickory, we finished it with a clear lacquer. The clear lacquer allows the beauty of the hickory to shine through. We love the way almost became perfect with some quick updates to the hickory console table.

Our customer is finishing their basement with a seaside theme. This includes an entertainment room, kitchen and bathroom. They have specific design elements they want to carry throughout each of the rooms, including a pebble grey color finish and louvered doors. They were unable to find a premade vanity in the color, style and size they wanted, so they asked us to make one.
Walnut Parsons Table
Our modern Walnut Parsons table is constructed completely of solid, local Missouri hardwood walnut. Similarly to the original Parsons table, the four legs are square in cross-section, flush with the edges of the top and apron, and equal to the apron in width.
Our challenge (besides lifting this heavy beast) was designing and building a table that complimented our client’s country club home, becoming the focal point in their luxury dining room. This table nailed it! It appears basic at first blush, but the subtle complexities highlight its contemporary elegance. The deep, rich walnut finish, the clean, straight lines, and the complex mitered legs to the flush apron joint easily making this table stand out.
At 8 feet long and 44 inches in width, our Walnut Parsons table fits 8 people comfortably. This is the perfect gathering spot for family and friends as you host your next engagement. It is certain to be an heirloom passed down for generations to come.

Clear Alder Sideboard – Beauty and style meet versatility and functional organization! Don’t compromise. You can get it all with our Alder Sideboard.
It is 60” long, 42” tall and 18” deep. It consists of 3 portions.
- The left and right are both inset doors with a flat panel detail. We used the highest quality soft close hinges. Open the doors to reveal two fully height adjustable shelves.
- The center portion is made up of 3 beautifully constructed inset, dovetailed drawers. They have the finest self and soft closing slides.
Console Table
We designed this console table with versatility in mind. The original purpose of this particular unit is as a television stand with display shelves underneath. It could later be used as a display shelf or whatever purpose you have in mind.
We made this console table out of oak and finished it with a white wash lacquer. Oak is the obvious choice when a white wash finish is desired. The strong oak grain comes through nicely and gives the surface variation expected of the white wash.
We drilled shelf holes in the two lower openings allowing you to vary the shelf height to your stuff and also change the shelf height whenever you want by moving the shelf pegs.
